What a sports-weekend. Normally, the North Texas Mean Green dominate the Saturdays of the fall, but with The Red River Shootout (great game), the Rangers in the post-season (great start) and the Cowboys and Niners on Sunday Night (best left alone) the DFW Mean Green sports fan had a full weekend.
But lets get back to that Navy game, y’all. NT lost 24-27, after the defense forced a stop late and gave Chandler Rogers the ball with just under 2 minutes and a timeout. The final drive started with a 7-yard sack, an incomplete pass to Cleveland, a 7-yard run, and then an incomplete pass to Burns up the middle.
A couple of things stay with me from this game: The final stop, and the big plays from the offense late, and the sack/fumbles. We knew that Navy had a solid defense but would helped by time of possession. Rogers would go long stretches without the ball and have fewer of them if Navy could do their thing. In the end, NT had 11 possessions, which was the same as against LA Tech.
