FWIW, The Solid Verbal (who didn't bother to play the "Reverb" this fan sent in after the Lamar win in the "Reverb" line segment on the following show) have picked USF as winning The American and this Verballer has been as-of-yet undecided on who will "win" The American, but think that, barring injuries, UNT can at least (at the worst) barely miss The American Championship Game, but make and win a bowl game (something that has eluded this team for years), with no more than two losses all regular-season long. At-(realistic)best, the Mean Green can make and win The American Championship, with no more than one-loss all regular-season long, but, likely, be screwed out of a playoff-spot that they are at least a year-or-two away from winning an opening-round of, therein.
I think it is a good exercise to talk about it. Right now the league race is wide open. Next week we get our first league matchup (UAB's game) so its all just speculation at this point.
We have said that NT's defense getting good (good signs!) changes the equation tremendously!
Always try to get the word out there, for whatever luck that may bring the program. More eyes = more conversation and more conversation = more money, talent, and titles. Have, personally, reached out to several businesses to pump-up UNT accomplishments and notable alumni and facts (such as it winning the 2023 NIT, now being the third-largest university by enrollment in the State, having a great location and market, boasting the sixth-highest-ranked offense in 2023, second-highest-ranked, and at one-point, before Miami took back the crown, "the" highest, in 2024, to "Stone Cold" Steve Austin, "Mean" Joe Greene, Kevin Von Erich, Dr. Phil, a singer and others being alumni) across the country, from a sports memorabilia shop in Gatlinburg, TN, to a sports-branded grill business in the Mid-Atlantic, to a ladies clothing boutique in the Dixie South, to include UNT Mean Green merchandise and themes for their products, just to try and get the ball rolling! UNT is still regarded as a complete afterthought/joke at this point, especially after the only meaningful, mainstream TV match-ups the world saw of them the last two years were disappointments come triple-zeros. That burned a lot of potential fans and coverage, such as The Solid Verbal and other such podcasts. Until the big....three-or-four match-ups, this season, are on TV, and won by The Mean Green, this perception (or, rather, lack thereof, because they're not watching) will continue.
Yeah I've written before that the non-cans are super important for visibility losing to cal (and. so badly) was terrible. The Bowl games are showpieces and we've gone o-fer
The CAL loss that year brings back memories of the Portland State loss that these eyes saw in-person (but at least had the decency to stick through it), but may be this generation of fans' version of it, for those who did not see the PS one.
Always try to remind the world of the Arkansas game, right in front of Jerry Jones in-attendance, who was rooting for ARK, while a sub-coach of his was rooting for UNT!
Getting an AD to schedule "winnable" lower-"P-whatever" program games, be they at-home and/or on-the-road (preferably at-home, but at least a split), is, IMHO, CRUCIAL!

"Just win, baby!"

(Was looking at G-class "zombie apocalypse" trucks, and saw the Porsche version already sold, but this is still available)
MAXKOCH interested in a new "Mean Green mobile"? =)
