MGN Open Thread #2
Continuing A Good Thing
Last week we tried an open thread and it was very successful. Given that advancement, I think I will kill the <forum>. I like it as a hedge against Substack being weird or something, but it does cost a little money and no one uses it. EDIT: I changed my mind on this and invited every subscriber to MGN to join the forum. Going to try to give it more of a go. Right now it is invite-only, so there will be no randoms. The Substack Chat feature is cool, but the interface isn’t great. We’ll continue the Open Threads but the forum allows folks to create threads and chat at your leisure. Look at you: #empowered
I’m an old-school forum lover, and even if the main one is still the preferred one, I think every good fanbase can support multiple. I tried being on the UNT subreddits but those don’t really pop. I know subs here turned down the idea of an MGN Discord. Some other ‘stacks have had success with that.
Again, post what you like, as you like in the comments.

Here is my initial forecast for Friday. I’m hopeful that the system moves faster than anticipated and we see less rain.
Tulane at North Texas – Friday Night Weather
At kickoff around 7 PM it will be cool, damp and very likely raining.
Temperature near 59 °F with a real feel around 57. North wind around 6 to 7 mph, with gusts near 16 mph early in the game. Humidity will sit in the mid to upper 80s so it will feel raw and chilly.
Showers are likely to be around for most of the game. Rain chances run about 70 to 85 percent from 7 PM through roughly 11 PM, with periods of light to moderate rain and a few heavier bursts. A rumble of thunder cannot be ruled out, but the bigger story is a steady soaker rather than severe storms.
Temperatures hold in the upper 50s through the second half. By late in the game and toward midnight rain chances start to slowly ease back toward 60 to 65 percent while winds back off to 3 to 5 mph with lower gusts near 10 mph.
Bottom line
Cool, wet, and breezy at times with a high chance you are playing in rain for most of the night, field staying slick from start to finish.
