Disagree with the "former Wazzu coach had bad opinions on Covid" take, but, again, it's neither here-nor-there.
On to the game and team analyses:
Idaho (Vandals) are nothing, even when it comes to "creampuffs" and SDST has taken at least a step-or-two back from its better years in the past ten-or-fifteen years, such as with other, "streaky-G5" teams, they take awhile to replenish, after awhile, due to the aforementioned lack of resources blue-bloods have to be perennial contenders.
Mateer-the-Steer is at OU and Wazzu doesn't have much of an understudy of his and it's not like the former is SamBradford.
Yes, Wazzu has always been an "offense-focused" team, but this game will have to, IMHO, come down to their defense vs. the Mean Green offense. Am not one of those "it's always all about the QB" kind of guys, but this will come down to the QB vs. QB comparisons, and if WMU was the "clunker" game of the season, and this is all the more reason to be the "get-right" game, and being that it's back at-home....am still going to go out-on-a-limb and say UNT has the better starting QB of the two!
The Wyoming-transfer, new SC SkylarCassity, and LB-Weslowski have seemed to "come into their own", at least thus far this season (finally). The others who seemed afraid to tackle at WMU probably had their "talking-to" and so, IMHO, it comes down to the punter, SawyerEvans, who had a horrible day at WMU, and one-or-two O-Linemen who were dominated, consistently, in that game, to bounce-back and make things easier for the Mean Green, and for "The-Drew" to "abide"....and bowl a better game that's worthy of a White Russian!
(Got a "Reverb" to try and call-in and make the cut for The Solid Verbal podcast ready to go that this listener thought long-and-hard about trying to make last week, but, ultimately, held-off and figured a post-game call-in attempt after a win vs. Wazzu is more appropriate a victory to celebrate)

Although I wanna believe we have the better QB in Mesteplaymaker, I agree that it boils down to who has the better D. And as I think Adam has said, we just need to be average which we haven’t been in quite a while. And maybe we can play even a little bit better than average back at home. Wazzou is a good team, but I still think we end up winning.
Coaching is a big factor too. Washington state was decimated in the portal & a lot of starters will b former jackrabbits - FCS. So it will be up to Jimmy Rogers and his two new coordinators to gel their team.
Well, this Mean Green fan just got back from the kiosks and has the betting slips to prove their confidence and fandom! Had $100 in $5 individual parlay tickets, did $40 on college football for most of the early games, today, splitting 50/50 on the CLEM/GTech game and MEM/TROY game, with the next $20 leaving the Wazzu-UNT game off the tickets, completely…..JUST in-case, but mainly for the potential to have TWO winning college tickets for today. Can win a few hundred bucks there. Did the other $60 on the NFL for Sun-Mon and split 50/50 on some of the later games, different than what this bettor usually does, on the TB-HOU game, ATL-MIN, game, LAC-LV game, and a partial-split on the NE-MIA game. Got favorites everywhere else. Am a tiny bit worried about the DEN-IND game, SEA-PIT game, and SF-NO game, but still feel confident about having a handful of thousands in family-trip and spending money by Tuesday! Off to find a working, consistent stream to watch the game on! GMG!
