There has been quite the game of musical chairs in college hoops. We discussed the departures in this space previously. Unfortunately, even though I have good feelings about Rubin Jones and Aaron Scott, my limited sports attention budget doesn’t allow for me to add two new programs to my list of squads to care about. I will do some box score checking, no doubt, as I did with Kansas State. I can tell you that wasn’t fun. I don’t want to have hot sports opinions about Kansas State and I feared my own reaction to a Tylor Perry bucket. Would I be rooting for the success of a fellow alumnus or be jealous that he wasn’t carrying out a final season in green and white?

As it is, NT is the beneficiary of some of the same medicine we dislike. Incoming transfers Atin Wright, Johnathan Massie, Jasper Floyd, and Latrell Jossell have all spent time elsewhere. All three have been winners, making memories and their fanbases have enjoyed the time there. The problem remains: how much can we get to know an Atin Wright and sports love the guy? I suppose an NCAA Tournament miracle run would do wonders. I also know the Drake fans would be quite upset to see him go and doing well elsewhere.

Still, college basketball is big enough that you can never see the other side. NT and K-State weren’t on the same path1. Same with Texas Tech. I doubt Michigan and St. John’s be on the schedule — but then again Dusty May might recall the difficulties scheduling programs and will throw Ross Hodge a bone. Then again that is a lose-lose scenario for the guy and will explain how we get into these situations in the first place.

Okay let’s get into the transfers instead of playing what-if. The quick take is that there are three guards under 6'4". The good news is that they can all shoot the ball and have played on good teams.
