The American is beginning to cannibalize itself, a la the old Pac-12, to where it can disallow for a so-called "G5" representative in the Playoffs, entirely (at least in the more rigged-for-blue-bloods Playoff format of there only being 12 teams and no guaranteed spots for the so-called "G5"). If it were 16 teams with guaranteed spots for them, or at least guaranteed spots in 12, then it'd be a good thing.
