The more quickly and efficiently Mosley works the better bc as we all probably know it’s all about the next year’s - and hopefully beyond just next years - Jimmy’s and Joe’s. And unfortunately, there’s gonna be guys that are gonna look in the portal.
Am so disgusted at "that other Mean Green "fan" forum" and its cynicism, socialism, and unmitigated trolling over the past handful of years. Not everyone is a "mercenary"/"journeyman"/etc.. They act like the likes of this user don't exist: those who would turn down millions to play at 'bama to go to UNT and play for "peanuts".
That said, yes, the sooner JaredMosley names the successor, the better, because there's still recruiting to be done and re-branding for all sides, and due-diligence for players, as well (and vice versa for the new HC, if not someone from the current staff), especially if rumors of JaredMosley ALSO leaving, only for the Baylor AD job, are true.
Would really suck to see TWO head coaches and TWO ADs leave UNT at roughly the same time within the span of three-or-so years, because that's at least one fan/player/student that will see that happen within their typical college career. Someone from WrenBaker/SethLittrell could still be on the staff or field, or stands, let alone at-home watching, and have to go through the whole refamiliarization process, let alone confusion and uncertainty, internally and externally, within the span of four years. That's rough, man, but.....am ever the optimist and think/hope that the Mean Green can build upon such successes, if not next year, as much, then at least the following year, in year-two of whomever is named the new HC (and possibly AD).
Would like some legitimate names to go along with who that new HC might be. Will it be from within, like PatrickCobbs or SkylarCassity, or from without, and if from without, is it a former player like ZachOrr? Is it GJKinne? Who?
JimMora is out at UConn and they'll be shopping for a new HC. Was reading and replying to a UConn fan in The Solid Verbal's Patreon page and he hears that the top candidates to succeed him are either ChipKelly (he doesn't think that's a possibility, nor does this Verballer), KirkCiorccia, or Yale's HC.
Both this user's own opinion, and AI (at least Brave AI), have TonyReno, the HC at Yale, as the presumptive, realistic, favorite to become the next HC of UConn football. Yale beat Harvard and he might want to leave a winner, and it's not too much of a trip, in location, nor in finance, for UConn to worry about getting a HC from. Given UConn's schedule and history and TonyReno's time at Yale, it seems like an easy match to go from (over?)performing FCS coach to lower-tier (no offense, despite coming from a former UT Longhorn fan, now UNT Mean Green fan, who saw UT get beaten up by the likes of UConn, BYU, CAL, and Maryland, years ago) FBS team.
Can't imagine ChipKelly going to that wasteland, as a guy who, for all his pros-and-cons, mind, had success everywhere he's been, from Oregon to Filthadelphia, to UCLA, to OSU, now back to Filthadelphia. They'd need to "back the Brinks truck up" to him and will not do that.
IF TonyReno declines (which is a possibility), then Brave AI thinks the HC at Akron, JoeMoorhead, could be in consideration, and Akron has also been (over?)performing this season. Ohio may be better than UConn, but from a head coaching perspective, UConn is a better spot than Akron and could make a better offer than them.
The third-most-likely candidate might be RyanCarty, at Delaware. Eh....Delaware is streaky and hit-or-miss, and is new to FBS, so, it'd be a stretch to think UConn, if they want to move forward in FBS, would want to bring in an equivalent-or-lower "tier" coach or coach from a lesser-program. He needs more "trophies in the case", as it were. If they're going to fire JimMora, why do that just to go grab the DEL HC?
JeffMonken is at number-four at Army, but, IMHO, it would stand to reason his job position is more advantageous than at UConn, so, that might be a step-DOWN for him. It'd have to be a great offer on UConn's part to get that to happen.
K.C.Keeler, at Temple, rounds-out the top-five on the internet's short-list, and he only just got to Temple, so, a larger sample size, like with the Delaware coach, might be needed, at the FBS level, and if he hops from Temple to UConn after just getting there....he looks like a "prostitute", a "status-climber", looking to "trade-up", and, as with relationships: if they're willing to cheat on someone with yuh....they're willing to cheat ON yuh with someone else! Plus, leaving Filthadelphia for wherever UConn is in Connecticut is a step-down for most. The American is (at least now) "the" top so-called "G6" ("P6, people) Conference in FBS, with at least four and up to six teams, this season, capable of having made the CFP, or at least the American Championship Game. EDIT: K.C.Keeler was said by the ESPN staff during the Temple-UNT game that he's there to stay in Filthadelphia, namely due to having strong family-ties to the area, as that's where he met his wife and their family lives, so, K.C.Keeler's name can be taken off the bingo cards, IMHO.
Wow! Didn't expect a Coaching Rumor Tracker on here!
The Solid Verbal has the "Coaching Carousel" game that this Verballer entered. It's now locked, so, it's all moot, now, as one cannot change their picks at this point, but this user waffled the JamesFrankin pick, badly: Had JamesFranklin going to UCLA, but then switched it to VTech, and then at the "eleventh hour", as it were, swapped it back off VTech to either UCLA or somewhere else, and then the news broke that it was, indeed, going to be VTech. /smh
Was hoping against hope that EricMorris would stay, which is why this user didn't finger him for the Okie State job, but knew it was a probability, because he was likely "their guy" from the git-go, and tried to "think into being" the idea Okie State would go with the Memphis HC or someone else.
Am still live for the LaneKiffin pick, if he's, indeed, out at Ole Miss and no longer in consideration for UF....this user had LaneKiffin going to LSU. Think he might still be LSU's guy. Have EliDrinkwitz going to UF, fwiw.
HOT TAKE:
Think it's going to be someone new, from "without", because UNT had, IIRC, around $3-3.5mil available to try and retain EricMorris, who left in favor of some $6-6.5-7mil from Okie State, so, they have almost as much of that $3-plus mil amount in the "war chest" to try and hire a HC from somewhere else. It would stand to reason it wouldn't be a BrianKelly-type, who would want millions more than that and who has been to the Natty game before. It would stand to reason to be a productive, so-called "G6" ("P6", people) HC that is currently available, or soon to be available after either today or next week. It would be quite the conservative move to try and hire from within and retain those millions.
Is PatrickCobbs or SkylarCassity truly ready to take the reigns, outright, as HC? The former is great as the RB coach -- and should definitely be retained on the staff, perhaps through contract language with whomever new might come in and get the job -- and the latter just got here, is barely 30 years old, and is already the DC, and the HC is, usually, at least around these parts, but also in-general, in-charge of the offense, with the DC standing on their own.
Promoting SC to HC, while, presumably, retaining DC duties, would signal an immense "culture-change" in the game philosophy of the Mean Green, and, IMHO, they're not ready to pull off some kind of "Iowa" situation, whereby fans cheer when the DEFENSE comes on the field. That's a rarity, as in the NFL, for a reason, and much harder to pull off in the so-called "G6" ("P6"). "Defense" may "win championships", but UNT is hardly in those games and as a smaller program with less of a budget and standing, "offense" putting "butts-in-seats", push-comes-to-shove, is the priority. They'll, likely, try to retain their "top-three-in-scoring-since-2023" standing, especially now that it's finally LED SOMEWHERE since the Craponi-"defense" is no longer an anchor! If they can get a conference-title-contending HC for maybe half of that war chest, that'd be a serious "offseason win" for this team to help (re)build on this success.

Can add speculation to this list:

GJ Kinne is overrated but it would be an hilarious poach.
Could help "forgive" him for winning in the last bowl game, especially if UNT ever gets a crack at TXST in the future.
